DETAILS
BALANCAL Double Distilled – Portraits of Rum No1 - is a unique agricole rum. It is the very first rhum parcellaire (rum from a single plot) produced in the Island of Madeira. The sugarcane was manually harvested solely in the property of Mr. “Agostinha”. The sugar cane ripened slowly and was harvested in May. The cane was promptly transported to Engenhos do Norte where it’s swiftly crushed. The fresh juice is fermented with a selected yeast. After a sturdy and clean fermentation the cane “wine” was, immediately, distilled in a column still at less than 70%vv to preserve most of the aromas. Finally, the spirit was redistilled in our hybrid still. Before bottling, we added pure mountain water, drop by drop, to reduce the alcohol content to 52.1% by volume. Clearly a unique terroir agricole rum.
FLAVOURS
Subtle fresh cane juice flavors with floral and tropical notes. Very balanced in the mouth, has a long finish with tropical and herbaceous aromas.
HOW TO DRINK
Can be drunk straight on the rocks or with your preferred citrus zest. Perfect for a fresh Daiquiri.
